MOSES 2024 (24.00.04) Release Notes

The following sections describe the changes which have been made to the MOSES applications.

Compatibility with Previous Versions

MOSES data files are forward and backward compatible between most versions of MOSES. Where backward compatibility has been broken, the option to export to earlier file formats is provided in the new version.

Changes: All Applications

Updates to Sample Files

The following sample files have been updated/added to MOSES in this release:

- hdesk\runs\samples\data\env.dat: The deprecated -VELOCITY option has been removed from this sample file.

- hdesk\runs\tests\conn\gspr_fric.cif: A new test file, gspr_fric.cif, has been added. This test file demonstrates how to use the -FRICTION option with a GSPR connector.

- hdesk\runs\tests\timdom\count.dat: This file has been reformatted with all commands now written in full.

- hdesk\tools\vessels\cbarges\caribe_p.dat: This sample model has been reformatted with all commands now written in full.

- hdesk\tools\vessels\cranes\hercules.dat: This sample model has been reformatted with all commands now written in full.

- hdesk\tools\vessels\misc_ves\dp_orient.dat: This is a new sample model of a medium-sized vessel that is ideal for subsea construction

MOSESis integrated offshore simulation software. Minimize offshore project risks with designs optimized using MOSES integrated simulation software. Apply industry best practices for installation and design sequences, and explore design alternatives with the efficiency and flexibility of a unified modeling environment. Simulate complete system response with advanced, integrated solvers for hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, mooring, and structural behavior. Avoid rework and project delays by collaborating with structural teams using integration with SACS. MOSES helps you solve complex offshore engineering problems and produce accurate high-quality models and platform designs for future reuse.

Your First MOSES Run

This is a tour of the MOSES Executive GUI.   A file from the samples directory is used to familiarize the user with the GUI layout.  It shows how to control the data contained in the results spreadsheet and Description.  Included is how to view the model.
